SERVICE USERS

At our commissioned service, START (Slough Treatment Advice and Recovery Team), we provide confidential advice, support and intervention for individuals 18 years and older. Each client will be assessed by our highly experienced team of drug and alcohol workers. Thorough assessment enables our team to establish exactly what your needs are in regards to substance misuse treatment and reintegration into society.

All clients are assessed on an individual basis and care is taken when deciding on suitable treatment. We recognise that each client is different, which is why we provide tailor-made recovery plans to suite lifestyles, family commitments, work, education and religion.

Our recently updated service has been heavily scrutinized to ensure that the community and its people are cared for when it comes to drug and alcohol treatment. We are very excited about our new service and all that it has to offer your road to recovery.

What can I expect during my first appointment at START?

The client will be asked to attend an initial assessment which usually lasts up to one hour at a time. During this initial consultation, the client will be asked a serious of personal questions about their current drug or alcohol problem, lifestyle, family life, current medical conditions and medications and past traumas that may have led them to develop a substance misuse issue. A recovery plan and analysis or required treatment plan maybe developed at that time if applicable; or a referral to a more suitable service will take place.

After the initial consultation the client maybe taken on to a caseload and is then assigned a key-worker who will help develop a recovery plan and provide other support which may include:

- Psychosocial intervention

- Clinical prescribing

- Complementary therapies

- Family intervention

- Counselling

- Group work
